Over the past year and a half, we have all been dealing with Covid lockdowns, quarantine, and diminished social lives. This of course has not been easy, but for those of us our dogs, cats, and other animals, we have greatly benefited from their companionship. They fill our homes with joy and snuggles while making the world feel a little less cold. Most of us can’t imagine a household without animals.
Yes, sometimes there’s cat litter on the floor, or the dog won’t stop barking at the doorbell on the TV, and of course, the endless hair that covers your sweatpants, but it’s always worth the unconditional love our pets provide. 

Kaiser Permanente, a health and hospital program out of Oregon (for example)  lists these five ways in which our pets improve our health:

1. They lower our blood pressure and cholesterol 
2. They decrease feelings of loneliness 
3. They provide a buffer against stress.
4. They help prevent weight gain
5. They can keep allergies at bay
 

                                                          So the official word is in, PETS ARE GOOD for us!
