Antique Art Nouvea 1920's Black Beaded Chatelaine Evening Purse
This spectacular "rare" Chatelaine in it's time was a form of functional jewelry worn hooked to a sash, belt or waistline. They were a symbol of a person's material wealth and class.
They were common in the 17th-19th centuries but as purses got larger and fashion shifted chatelaines disappeared in the 20th century.
The beautiful silver and brass tone Art Nouveau lady frame with flowers and ribbons, hook and push button clasp are in perfect working condition.
The twisted looped fringe is in perfect condition and there are no missing beads anywhere on the purse.
The interior suede lining has a pocket and does show wear.
Inside silver frame is engraved with the owners name "Mrs. B. Reed".
The back is black velvet with a pocket. Shows minimal signs of wear.
The frame and hook are unpolished.
